Welcome To Our October Newsletter

Dinah Kissiedu

Properties with Purpose.

This month I celebrated another year on earth. I had an opportunity to spend some quality time with friends and family this month with a line-up of activities from karaoke to i Sky indoor diving. The celebrations continue for the whole month, so I am enjoying trying new activities that are fun and fill me with joy. Autumn is one of my favourite seasons, it's when nature's paintbrush transforms landscapes into a tapestry of vibrant colours. It's the perfect time to enjoy outdoor activities for example, I recently had the pleasure of going apple picking in the charming town of Ellijay, Georgia. The orchards there offered not only delicious apples but also the opportunity to interact with farm animals and engage in a variety of entertaining activities, making it a truly unforgettable day out. Autumn's arrival brings with it a powerful reminder of the importance of letting go and embracing change. Much like the trees shedding their leaves in preparation for the cold months ahead, we, too, should consider what in our lives no longer serves a purpose. It's a season of reflection and introspection, a time to evaluate our habits, relationships, and goals. We can take inspiration from the trees, who release their leaves to conserve energy for new growth in the future. Letting go can be a liberating and rejuvenating process. It allows us to shed the burdens of the past, whether they be negative thoughts, unhealthy relationships, or unproductive routines. It's an opportunity to declutter our emotional and mental spaces, making room for personal growth and renewal. Just as the leaves falling to the ground ultimately nourish the soil for future growth, our ability to let go of the old and unnecessary can provide us with the strength and clarity needed to move forward into the next phase of our lives. Autumn serves as a natural reminder that, like the trees, we too can benefit from releasing what no longer serves us to make way for the beauty of new beginnings.

How Unemployment Can Affect Your Mental Health: Unemployment can be a challenging and emotionally taxing experience. The uncertainty and financial stress that often accompany job loss can have a significant impact on your mental health. Feelings of anxiety, depression, and self-doubt can take a toll on your overall well-being. It's essential to seek support, whether through friends, family, or professional counseling, to help navigate these difficult times. Remember, there are resources available to assist you during your job search journey, and you're not alone.

Tips: Uplift: Listen/Read positive videos/podcasts Visualise: Visualise yourself in a job within a timeframe for example; within 2 weeks I would have 2 job offers, see it, feel it, believe it. Assess: Are you an employee or an employer? During this time evaluate which role you are best suited for. Networking: Leverage your personal and professional network. Let friends, family, and colleagues know that you're looking for work. Many job opportunities come through referrals , and the traditional way of walk-ins. Skills Enhancement: Consider taking courses or certifications to enhance your skills.. Professional Social Media Profiles: Ensure your LinkedIn profile is complete and showcases your skills and achievements. Connect with professionals in your industry. Volunteering and Internships: Volunteering or internships can provide valuable experience, build your network, and potentially lead to job offers. Persistence and Follow-Up: Stay persistent in your job search and don't get discouraged by rejection. Follow up with employers after interviews, and send thank-you notes or emails to express your continued interest.

We were grateful to be invited by Salome Deloach Employment Relations Manager to attend ACSS- Atlanta Center for Self Sufficiency Career day. We had the opportunity to meet with people in the community whom were looking for jobs and also offer our services. Career fairs help maximise opportunity and are an effective way to expand one's professional network, and gain valuable career-related insights, making them a valuable resource for anyone looking to advance their career.

We currently have volunteering opportunities at Help Inn Folk. So, if you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please contact us on volunteer@Helpinnfolk.com.

The month of October recognises a few key dates one of which is disability employment month. We want to take a moment to recognise the importance of having a diverse work space and how enriching working in a diverse space can be.

In the state of Georgia, 12.3% of the population comprises individuals with disabilities. The county with the highest percentage of people with disabilities was Quitman (27.0%). The county with the lowest percentage of people with disabilities was Gwinnett (7.2%).

These stats are crucial when addressing homelessness for several reasons. Firstly, they highlight the varying needs of the homeless population in different regions. Counties with a higher percentage of people with disabilities may require more extensive and specialised support services to accommodate the unique challenges faced by this demographic. Additionally, these statistics can aid in resource allocation and funding distribution, ensuring that counties with higher disability rates receive appropriate resources to provide accessible shelters, healthcare, and job training programs. Furthermore, they emphasise the importance of tailored outreach and support efforts, as individuals with disabilities among the homeless population often require more comprehensive and individualised assistance to regain stability and independence.

Help Inn Folk organisation is gaining recognition for its community efforts. We are fortunate to have landlords who are deeply committed to our mission and eager to collaborate with us. Our priority is to partner with empathetic landlords who comprehend the challenges faced by our clients in their homelessness journey. Unlike traditional housing providers, we do not impose stringent demands such as requiring residents to have three times their income or meet specific credit score criteria. We believe that these inflexible requirements often create significant barriers for those experiencing homelessness in their quest for stable housing solutions. Our approach is rooted in compassion, flexibility, and a commitment to providing accessible and supportive accommodations for those in need. Please view the video below to understand the widespread impact and recognise that homelessness can affect anyone.

One of clients that we relocated early this year Shonta Gibson sister of Tyrese Gibson singer and actor who was featured in our March 2023 Newsletter , has sadly passed away. We would like to send our condolences to her family. Life is so precious, just a fleeting moment from existence, so take a moment today to connect with those close to you , as we know life can change at a flick of a switch. "When someone you care about becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure".
