November is a month of reflection, gratitude, and togetherness. At Help Inn Folk, we take this time to pause and give thanks for the incredible support we receive from our community.

We are deeply grateful to our supporters, caseworkers, nurses, and all those who provide essential community services. Your dedication, compassion, and tireless efforts make it possible for us to provide safe, stable housing and support to justice-involved individuals, adults aging out of foster care, and other vulnerable members of our community.

Giving Thanks in November

November reminds us to celebrate the people and partnerships that make a real difference. It’s a month to reflect on the progress we’ve made, acknowledge the challenges ahead, and recognize the efforts of everyone who helps us fulfill our mission.

At Help Inn Folk, giving thanks goes beyond words — it’s about taking action and helping someone take a step closer to stability, safety, and hope.

We especially want to recognize:

  • Our supporters believe in our mission and provide resources to sustain it.

  • Caseworkers who guide individuals through the complexities of reentry and housing.

  • Nurses and healthcare professionals who ensure that vulnerable adults receive the care and attention they deserve.

  • Community service providers whose work helps create a stronger, safer, and more compassionate society.

Your contributions, big and small, have a profound impact — helping adults rebuild their lives and regain confidence, independence, and a sense of belonging.

Homelessness in Georgia: A Reminder of Why We Give Thanks

While Thanksgiving is a season of abundance for many, homelessness continues to affect thousands of individuals across Georgia and the United States. Many people in our programs are justice-involved adults or adults aging out of foster care — populations that face significant barriers to housing, employment, and healthcare.

Some key points:

  • Over 12,000 Georgians experience homelessness on any given night

  • Many justice-involved individuals struggle with finding stable housing after incarceration, increasing the risk of returning to homelessness.

  • Adults aging out of foster care often lack family support and face increased vulnerability to housing instability.

This month, as we reflect on all we are thankful for, we also remember those who are still struggling. Every action we take can help provide safety, dignity, and opportunity to those in need.

A Warm Thanksgiving Meal for Our Residents

This Thanksgiving, Help Inn Folk was honored to provide our residents with a warm, comforting holiday meal—something many of them have gone without for years. We are especially grateful to Lowe’s Guardian Angel, the organization that generously supplied the Thanksgiving food.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to them for their generosity, their partnership, and their dedication to uplifting those who are rebuilding their lives.

How You Can Help This November

This Thanksgiving season, there are many ways to support our mission:

  • Volunteer: Your time can provide mentorship, guidance, and companionship to those in our care.

  • Spread Awareness: Share our work with friends, family, and on social media to help others understand the realities of homelessness.

  • Practice Kindness: Even small gestures — a meal, a conversation, or a helping hand — can make a lasting difference.

Final Thoughts

This November, as we gather with friends, family, and loved ones, let’s remember the true meaning of gratitude: recognizing the people and actions that make our community stronger, safer, and more compassionate.

Help Inn Folk wishes you and your family a happy, healthy, and meaningful Thanksgiving.
